The Dropkicks is a rugby podcast and sports blog site illuminating your path through the murky world of international rugby, league, cricket, football, baseball, motorsports, golf, netball and competitive eating.
Media scumbag and woman-beating prick Tony Veitch is returning to the airwaves. To his former employer The Radio Network, where he will work as a 'journalist' for Radio Sport and Newstalk ZB. The company is probably testing the waters to see how its advertisers and listeners react. If they're favourable, then no doubt he'll have a quick ascendancy up the rankings until he gets his old job back and takes over from D'Arcy Waldegrave and Mark Richardson.
Fuck that.
Yes, Veitch had a rough time of it, yes, he plead guilty and 'paid his dues' but not once, not fucking once, has he apologised properly. Oh, he's said read a press release [though he had already sent one of those annoying emails with too many question marks that I personally hate] written by somebody else that he's sorry, but he hasn't shown it. He hasn't done jack shit.
Kristin Dunne-Powell also had a rough time of it. She got kicked. She got pushed down stairs. She got made out to be some kind of harpie who was only out to ruin his life. She went through a lot and still experiences it every day. To me Veitch is yet to show that he really understands what he has done. Go and do something to help other women and children who have been battered.
Hell, give up the salary you'll be getting from TRN for the first year and instead donate it to charities. You've gone this long without a salary, or so it seems.
I'll give you a second chance once you truly appear to be sorry and pay penance. Until then, stay the fuck off the airwaves.
Notably short television presenter Tony Veitch lost his job after quite serious charges of assault were brought against him. The case garnered a lot of media attention at the time but has slowed somewhat as Veitch awaits his court date.
So when the "un-PC" (read "arsehole") Murray Deaker annouced that Veitch would be a panelist on his show you can really only think one thing: Publicity Stunt.
Deaker, a reformed alcoholic who actually believed lesbians were covertly attempting to take over the nation, has said Veitch needs a "another chance". At what I'm unsure, given that the court procedings haven't started yet.
Either way, don't watch Deaker's show (if you read the Dropkicks then there is a high chance you don't anyway), but also try and disuade others from doing so who might want to see "what Veitch will say".
ps. Am I the only one surprised by Veitch being called "talented"?
